What does man gain from all his labor at which he toils under the sun? - Ecclesiastes 1:3
I've been asking myself this question a lot lately. As an employee of the state, I have recently felt like our leaders have suddenly decided that government work is a dishonorable profession and government workers are undeserving of respect. Hard worker? So what. Dependable? So what. Loyal? Who cares. Thankfully, we have a God who not only cares, but also instructs not to get too caught up in the things of this world. My problems? Nothing new. The solution: focus on God.
Try putting out resume after resume after resume (even in the format several HR reps told me they are now looking for - ACCOMPLISHMENTS AND HOW THOSE ACCOMPLISHMENTS BENEFITED THE COMPANY) and still cannot land a position. All my toils, experience, wisdom, and initiative have gone unheeded. Vanity of vanities, all is vanity. God is calling me to a position HE wants to lead me to for His glorification. I no longer am angry, despondent, or worrisome, discouraged, or depressed. He will provide. And as you said, I must - MUST - focus on God.
